Dr Annie Lau
Dr Lau has a national and international profile for her expertise in consumer eHealth. She leads the most active and productive consumer informatics research program in Australia, investigating new approaches to improve consumer health and patient engagement through the use of eHealth. Dr Lau has published important original research in the area, and has led multiple international reviews on the role of eHealth for patients and consumers. The RCTs she has led have demonstrated a doubling rate of preventive activities through the use of consumer eHealth systems. These technologies (which she is a co-inventor) have been spun off into a new start-up venture, which launched in Silicon Valley in 2015. Recently she was commissioned to review evidence on mHealth technologies, and was invited to explore policy implications with HealthDirect as they wish to make future investment in the area. Dr Lau has published widely on the role of eHealth for patients and consumers.
